| Funding - £70 million fund to transform youth volunteering |
|
|
"V", the Office of the Third Sector strategic partner, has announced £70million funding programme as part of a national framework to transform youth volunteering in England. The funding is available over three years for organisations and projects
to develop and deliver innovative volunteering opportunities, which
are accessible and engaging to 16–25 year olds. The new grants
programme seeks to stimulate the creation of youth volunteering opportunities
that tap into young people's passions and concerns and engage them in
activities which benefit society and young people themselves. The funding announcement marks a major milestone for the independent charity, which was set up in May 2006 to implement the recommendations of the Russell Commission. It builds on the charity's achievements over the past year and forms the first element of the National Youth Volunteering Programme (NYvP) – a new framework for youth volunteering, which the Commission considered key to delivering a ‘step change in the quantity, quality and diversity of youth volunteering opportunities’. It also addresses the Commission's recommendation to ‘reform, re–brand and expand’ the Millennium Volunteers' (MV) programme. Further information on the fund and how to apply is available at www.wearev.com. |
