Consultations - Refugee Academic Project

London South Bank University (LSBU) is running a project aimed at bridging the gap between the resources provided by universities and the needs of refugee academics in the UK. The Refugee Academic Project was set up with funds from the Council for Assisting Refugee Academics, also based at LSBU.

To date, the project has focused on contacting refugee academics to find out first-hand about the barriers that have prevented them from re-starting their career in the UK, then working with the relevant LSBU departments to provide the necessary services and close the information gap. The project is now providing practical support and mentoring to seven academics in areas ranging from economics to education to mechanical engineering, with the aim of either helping them return to the academic world or providing them with a stepping stone to a new career.

If you are interested in learning more about the project or know of a refugee academic who could benefit, please contact project manager Sedi Keshavarzi on keshavas@lsbu.ac.uk
