| Events - A New Voice in London – Praxis Action Learning event | |
| A New Voice in London aims to give a voice to hidden communities of London, particularly those experiencing levels of vulnerability and exploitation. These communities include new migrants from within and outside the EU, refugees, asylum seekers, failed asylum seekers and undocumented migrants. These communities make a significant contribution to London’s economic, social and cultural life. The Action Learning event we are holding will focus on the experience of these hidden communities and will enable participants to share common experience and with the help of drama, analyse what is happening. The event will include roundtable dialogue and engagement with policy makers in a safe and open environment, as well as a final action-planning session. The success of the dialogue depends on the experiences brought forward by communities and we hope to have around 50 members of new communities present at the event to share their experiences. If you are a new community member or represent communities please attend and pass this information onto other members of the community whom you think also have valuable experiences to share – all are welcome. Please contact Alex Sutton at Praxis on 07828.726.127 or alex.sutton@praxis.org.uk for more details. |

| Events - Pathways out of homelessness - A solutions workshop | |
|
Exploring how VCS and the statutory sector in Tower Hamlets can join together to create pathways by which homeless people with varying needs can obtain and sustain appropriate housing by the shortest possible route. This event will see the presentation of the first phaseof the research element of the project ‘Pathways out of Homelessness’ Project . The London Borough of Tower Hamlets commissioned Praxis to carry out this pioneering project, which aims to identify the shortest route from homelessness into sustained housing for some of London’s most disadvantaged citizens. The project in its second phase aims to facilitate a dialogue between voluntary sector organisations to streamline approaches in the light of the findings. The project so far has involved 98 organisations and 50 homeless and ex-homeless individuals in Tower Hamlets. Participants took part in dialogue and interactions through a series of workshops and interviews. This series of dynamic information exchanges has suggested a new partnership approach between the CVS and statutory sectors which will greatly improve the effectiveness of assisting the homeless gain sustainable housing. The event will facilitate an important dialogue between organisations as to how to improve our effectiveness working together and create pathways out of homelessness through a streamlined voluntary sector.
