| MODA News - MODA’s Outreach capacity-building support | |
| Deadline: 31 August 2008 This project aims to support small and medium community organisations in areas of capacity-building needs identified by the groups themselves. As part of our 2008 progarmme. we are now in the process of recruiting 10-15 community groups to provide them with free1-2-1 targeted technical support to build up their governance and operational structures, help them with business and project planning and management and increase their access to resources and funding. | Events - Building Bridges | |
| This youth-led project aims to provide evidence-based
policy recommendations around the existence of gangs and the use of
weapons in London. The event will present the findings of this two year
project which combined desk research, training and fieldwork with young
Londoners from all backgrounds. This study provides guidance and actively

| Events - Exploring Integration: Third Country Migrants in the EU | |
| The Middlesex University Social Policy Research Centre is launching two recent comparative European research projects which explore aspects of the integration and inclusion of non-EU migrants. It will also discuss the broader conceptual and policy issues arising from these projects. Presentations will focus on both the UK situation and recent developments in the EU and include researchers from the projects at Middlesex University as well as external speakers. The Research Projects The MITI (Migrant Integration Territorial Index (UK, Italy (lead), France, Spain, Portugal) part of the EU’s INTI programme, critically explored the meaning of integration and the EU agenda of measuring integration in order to develop policy targets. This project reviewed national and EU policy on integration and explored the possibilities of using existing data sets to measure integration. Civic stratification, gender and family migration policies in Europe (UK, Austria, Spain, France, Czech Republic, Netherlands) examined how immigration legislation affected different kinds of family migrants and their responses to it. It was based on policy analysis and interviews with NGOs, policy makers, academics and individual family migrants. | A message from Sandi Rance, Community Champions: Since the Community Champions and Big Boost programmes
ended in March this year the London office has closed and Scarman is
now part of the national Novas Scarman group. Community Champions (Years
2000 - 2007) are now looking for a way to keep in touch with each other
and grow. To this end we have a discussion meeting arranged for Saturday,
2 pm August 9 at Gharweg, the Multi Resource Centre 5 (5a Westminster
Bridge Road, 5 minutes from Waterloo and Elephant and Castle stations).
Unfunded, we are asking for a £5 entry fee - towards the hall
hire and a 'fighting fund'. Our aim is to set up a Council of Community
Champions, a Londonwide network. |

| Funding - Department of Health’s Opportunities for Volunteering Scheme |

Age Concern invites applications from third sector organisations which provide services for older people. The maximum amount of grant available is £35,000 per year for up to 3 years grant funding with proposals that improve the profile and diversity of volunteers as well as improving the range and quality of volunteering opportunities in health and social care. Successful projects will be able to demonstrate how they contribute to the Department of Health’s Strategic Objectives and Age Concern England's priorities of:

| Funding - Young People and Parents Tackling Violence (City Bridge Trust) |

City Bridge Trust want to support work which minimises violence and helps young people recover from violence or bullying where they have been the victims. Parents need more help in supporting their children if they have been victims, but equally need help with what to do if they suspect their children are involved in violence or bullying. They will fund organisations for up to a maximum of three years for work which meets at least one of these priorities and where you can demonstrate a track record in the field.
