not-for-profit groups and charities across nine London boroughs, to create
and develop innovative volunteering opportunities for 16-25 year olds. If you need something doing, we know someone who is looking for the experience:
If you have never taken volunteers before but can see
the potential, we can help to get you up-to-speed with national standards
for volunteer placement providers. If you would like us to advertise your
existing opportunities, provide any support in building your capacity
for volunteer placement or talk about novel ways of engaging groups of

| Resources - LVSC research on London's LINks |
|
|
LINks (Local Involvement Networks)are the new statutory forums that will allow local people wider opportunities for involvement in the commissioning and delivery of their health and social care services. They are replacing Patient and Public Involvement Forums. The volunteer members of the LINks are to be supported by a LINk host organisation appointed by the Local Authority in which they work. The research examines the commissioning processes, experiences and results of London' s LINks ad also informs our general understanding of the impact of commissioning on VCS funding in London: the creation of the LINks gave us a unique opportunity to observe the commissioning of a single service, based on common, nationally-derived objectives and guidance, simultaneously taking place in all London boroughs and in an area of policy where VCS groups should have been well-placed to bid for and win contracts. If you would like a hard copy of the report, please email Gethyn Williams at gethyn@lvsc.org.uk or call 020 7700 8206 | |

| Funding - What is your story of London? Funding opportunity | |
|
The Story of London, taking place this June, is a festival celebrating the capital’s past, present and future. Organised by the Mayor of London and supported by a host of organisations, including the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF), the celebration will feature a range of events that will take place across the city featuring London life from its ancient origins to the present day. The festival coincides with the 15th Birthday of the National Lottery, and to celebrate this HLF is delighted to announce its support for Story of London and will be showcasing a programme of events and activities at 15 locations across the capital this summer. To mark both occasions, the HLF will also be making available small grants of between £3,000 and £10,000 to support projects that could help local organisations, communities and voluntary groups to share their London stories with a much wider audience. For further information and to apply please see the Heritage website. Groups are invited to make an initial telephone call for advice from a member of the HLF London development team ahead of making a formal application by contacting Inga Miksyte:Tel: 020 7591 6151 / Email: ingam@hlf.org.uk |
