| Events - Futurejobs Fund - Social Enterprise London information event | |
|
Following an overwhelmingly positive response to our call for information last week, Social Enterprise London is inviting social entrepreneurs and social enterprise leaders from across London to an information event on the Future Jobs Fund. The evening will include a presentation from Philip Hayes from the Government Office for London on the details of the Fund, and how social enterprises can effectively access it. The Future Jobs Fund, administered by the Department for Work and Pensions, is seeking bids which create at least 30 new jobs over a six month period. Whilst this seems a lot, bids can be made up of partnerships between public or private bodies and social enterprises, and it's this aspect of the Fund which the information event will focus on. To remind you of the details of the Fund, for each new job created,
the employing organisation would receive up to £6,500. Each
bid will need to demonstrate that: We realise that we are not giving much notice in advance of the event, but the reason is that outline bids for first allocations of funding need to be submitted before the end of June, so I hope you understand the need for haste. To book a place at this event or for more information, please complete this booking form and return it to events@sel.org.uk. Please note that places are limited and will be allocated on a first come, first served basis. If you have any queries then please call the SEL team on 020 7022 1920 or e-mail matthew@sel.org.uk. |

| Training - Safeguarding African Children at Risk | |
| AFRUCA is the premier charity promoting the rights and welfare of African children in the UK. This seminar is being held as a follow up to our various training activities for African parents and practitioners across London in the area of child protection. Many of our event participants have highlighted the need for a constructive dialogue between parents and practitioners to enable both parties interact in a neutral, non clinical environment, while learning more about the issues affecting children and the challenges each party experience in addressing them. The need to share ideas and knowledge about how to work together to better ensure the safety and wellbeing of African children, has also been identified as a key priority. This event is being held as part of a week long series of activities marking AFRUCA’s 8th anniversary from 21st to 27th June 2009. Target group: African Parents(AFRUCA service users), Social Work Practitioners, Education Practitioners, Health Workers, Crime Prevention Officers, Mental Health Workers, Youth workers, Targetted Connexions workers, Sure Start Programme staff, policymakers, academics, charity workers, and other practitioners working closely with African children, young people and families Cost: £100 per delegate from statutory agencies and charities with more than 10 employees. £75 for small voluntary organisations with under 10 employees.
