| Events - Social Enterprise Within Health & Social Care – A Seminar | |
Mainstream community, voluntary & third sector organisations are increasingly embracing social enterprise to consolidate & extend their services & operations & strategically positioning themselves to sustain services, operate in & take advantage of the competitive contracts and commissioning culture & processes. The emergence of social enterprise in the Health & Social Care sector is a growing & important development offering new opportunities within contracts commissioning & funding processes. However, social enterprise and opportunities associated with it remain untapped by BME community & third sector organisations, with few BME organisations incorporating social enterprises or consortium based approaches as vehicles to secure grants or contracts and to address inequalities in Health & Social Care particularly within BME communities. This seminar aims to: promote BME awareness of & engagement in social enterprise; provide information on opportunities for social enterprise within health & social care sector; identify capacity building needs of BME health & social care providers; explore potential for diverse BME groups & providers to come together within partnerships and consortiums & bid for grants and contracts around addressing health inequalities and meeting health & social care needs of BME communities; improve engagement between NHS, commissioners, allied health professionals, third sector and BME communities. Cost: FREE, but places must be booked in advance. £5.50 contribution for lunch from all delegates mandatory (not refundable if delegates do not turn up after booking a place) For further information please contact: Tel: 02085705038; Email: leadership@taha.org.uk or info@selfdirectedcare-taha.org.uk; Website: www.selfdirectedcare-taha.org.uk |

| Funding - Comic Relief Refugee and Asylum Seeking Women |
This programme aims to provide support for refugee and asylum seeking women who have experienced rape, torture and other forms of violence in their home countries and meets one or more of the outcomes listed below. We are especially keen to make sure that women get the help they need in making their claims for asylum, and also get access to emotional and practical services they need to help rebuild their lives. There are two strands to the open programme: Direct support to women - We will fund support services with the aim of helping women cope better with the trauma they have experienced. This could include services such as counselling, group work or self help support. We will also fund services that help women access legal support, health care and housing for example. Training - We are also interested in supporting organisations to develop training for people working both in refugee and mainstream organisations to increase their skills, knowledge and practice in working with this vulnerable group. We hope that some of this work may be accredited and will have the potential to be adopted more widely by other organisations. For further information and application guidelines click here. | |

| Funding - Bromley Council for Voluntary Youth Services - Grants 2009-2010 |
On behalf of Bromley Council, BCVYS administers grants for Youth Work. Two forms for Grant Aid are available - one for Voluntary Organisations, and one for individuals to engage in training activities and courses. These grants are limited and demand may often exceed the funds available so applications should be made as earlier as possible, and provide as much information as possible in support of the application. Grants will only be awarded for work relating to 12-21 years old in accordance with the London Borough of Bromley Youth Service objectives. An organisation applying, or for an individual applying, the organisation must be a member of Bromley Council for Voluntary Youth Services. A Grants Panel meet 3 or 4 times a year to consider applications (see below). After these meetings applicants will be advised as to the outcome of their request for funding.
