MODA's successful Quality Support training programme - Evaluation Report

As part of Quality Support Project MODA delivered a four-day training programme on 4 th, 5 th, 11 th and 12 th October 2006 that included Strategic Planning, Fundraising Strategy, Practical Fundraising and Monitoring and Evaluation. The training took place at SAVO centre at Elephant and Castle. Each training day was from 10 am to 4.00 pm and was attended by an average of 17 trainees. 37 people from 33 organisations benefited from the programme. The participants represented very diverse groups including women’s groups, disabled organisations, Muslim and Christian faith groups, refugee and migrant organisations and mainstream voluntary groups. There was both a formal evaluation through questionnaires as well as a 5-10 minute session of participatory appraisal at the end of each training day. The overall response was very positive and appreciative.

These are some quotes from the participants of Practical Fundraising on 11th October:

  • “A lot to take in, will definitely encourage others to come.. At first I was nervous about filling in the form, but I feel more confident especially after filling in the form.”
  • “I wish to get another training to improve my knowledge in governance and another training for quality mark”
  • “Every aspect was explained thoroughly and clearly explained and well understood and it has empowered me and increased my knowledge and my confidence as well. Thanks so much.”
  • “The training is very clear, simple and full of knowledge. The trainer is very sincere and willing to share his knowledge and experiences.”
  • “I am more confident to deliver capacity building to small BME group in Pan London Area.”
  • “Got a lot of info about how to apply for funding.”
  • “Since I have been coming to this training I have achieved so much and the way things were being told to me it was like a story not to forget. Thanks so much.”
  • “Excellent: I developed my knowledge and approach to fundraising strategy. Hope this course will be replicated to allow other people to increase their knowledge in this sector.”
  • “This course is really useful, it went beyond my own expectation. The trainer was competent, qualified and responded fully to questions. The presentation was clear and presentation slides were clearer and more understandable than the previous times.”
  • “This is a time of eye opening. Much more, the encouragement of good relationship amongst the participants. I am proud of Dr. Rasul. I thought I knew how to fill in a form but today I am proved wrong, Dr. Rasul is wonderful.” (IKECHUKWU OKEKE, House of Refuge Christian Centre)
