MBOGs - MODA Basic Organisational Guides

MODA prepares and publishes a series of organisational guides under the name “MODA basic organisational guides [MBOG]. The aim of this project is to “provide expert practical knowledge and at the same time introduce elements of good practice and professional understanding of organisational structures, mechanisms and behaviour.”The guides are written in simple language and tackle issues of organisational management and development in a clear straightforward way in the format of questions and answers and the provision of concepts and tools. Thanks to a project grant from ALG in 2001 we have been able to develop this project further in consultation with migrant community groups into a “translation and training project.” The aim is to have the guides translated into London’s main community languages and then the guides would be used for both education and training.Organisational guides published so far are:

  • “ Starting and developing a community organization.”
  • “ Quality Assurance Measures for Community Organisations”.
  • “ Constitution, Governance and Management.”
They have been translated into the following languages: Arabic, Chinese, Filipinos, Kurdish, Spanish, Somali, Turkish. The languages chosen each represents an ethnic community in London with a population over 50,000 people. The next guides in the series/project will be Strategic Planning and Project Planning & Management. We welcome participation and partnership with other organisations in developing and producing translated information in community languages.
